A Red Marine!I decided to try a test miniature of another Blood Angels successor chapter, the Blood Drinkers. These guys are red with yellow trim. First, the start: Army Painter Colour Primer on one of my AOBR Marines.
Here you see a Lamenters Terminator, another red Space Marine, and the completed Blood Drinker. This Army Painter color should be called ZOMG RED instead of "Pure Red." It's advertised as going easily over black primer, which I believe. A little goes a long way. Any bare patches were basecoated with Mechrite Red. I tried some new techniques:
Dirty yellow armor contrasts well with just sepia or brown washes. Since the red base color is darker, I used Devlan Mud as a primary wash, with some other work with Badab Black. Here's a side view showing the chapter symbol, done freehand. Much easier than the three-color checkerboard and heart symbol of the Lamenters. Once again, ink pens instead of brushes.
And here's a shot of the back of the figure, displaying some of the ink lining. Not too difficult when using an ink pen, but I wouldn't do this with a brush or a micro pen.
I don't know how many of these guys I'll make. Perhaps a squad or two allied with the Lamenters, in preparation for the upcoming Blood Angels codex?
