GK TournamentPlayed my first tournament today with an 1850-point Imperial Guard army. My opponents were Mech Eldar, Tyranids, and Speed Freek Orks. I lost my last game to the Orks, the eventual winner, and placed fourth overall. My list: HQ Company Command Squad: TROOPS ELITES FAST ATTACK HEAVY SUPPORT Manticore w/Heavy Flamer 1850 points, 13 AV12 hulls. A fully mechanized Panzer division, capable of putting 8+ wounds on MCs or destroying 2 AV14 tanks per turn. Weaknesses: once the vets are out of the Chimeras, they're toast (usually) and there's not many of them. This list has fewer infantry figures than some Marine armies. Dual Manticores, Vendettas, and Hydras provide a great firebase for both anti-mech and anti-unit fire. This army is really two 925-point armies. What to improve: The Bane Wolf was awful. If I wanted to buy another, a Valkyrie w/Missile Pods or third Vendetta would have been OK. Also, those 130 points could have been spent on another Veteran Squad riding in a Vendetta.
