Monday night's game

No games Sunday due to some Pokemon rollout.

I had a fun game (my Marines vs. Imperial Guard) and learned a lot. It was an objective game with deployment to opposite table quarters.

My opponent's list:

- CCS w/4 GL in Chimera
- 3x Melta Vet squads in Chimeras
- 2x Melta Vet squads in Vendettas
- 2x Leman Russ Punisher
- 2x Armored Sentinels with AC

We weren't tailoring, so I used the same list I had used against the Orks -- 1500 points.

- 3 Tac squads in rhinos with mixes of special weapons
- LR Redeemer with Cassius, 2x LC Termies, 3x TH/SS Termies
- Vindicator
- Captain with Relic Blade

The game quickly developed into a scrum in the middle, with my Tac Squads proving resilient against guard Chimeras and squads. Most of my armor was destroyed, but the terminators and Cassius beat the hell out of anything in their way. All the termies fell to Punisher shots or autocannons, and I had some terrible dice rolls early on. I lost 0-1, with three other objectives in contention.

What I learned:

* Special characters detached from squads roll 3d6 for difficult / run movement, with a reroll allowed.

* I should have engaged multiple targets in my assaults, which would have allowed the termies to rip even more face.

* A Marine Tac Squad costs 2 or 3 times the price of an IG squad. Boy, they are worth it.

* Cassius's combi-flamer kicks ass.
