My other photo site

If you want to see what I did before I started enjoying the soft life in Northern California, check out my SmugMug portfolio.

Leman Russ Demolisher "Hell Hammer"

When only S10 pie plates will do.

I found the GW book on painting tanks a good source of techniques on this one, as I'm still learning.

Beware the Traitors!

I was looking for a second army which would allow me to do a lot of modifications and other odd stuff. I decided on a Traitor brigade of the Imperial Guard.

Traitor IG sergeant, Company commander, and three guardsmen.

Meet the Lamenters

Inspired by Aventine's army, my Space Marine chapter is the unfortunate Lamenters.

Here's the first Tactical Squad I've (almost) completed and based. Variation in the paint shades is due to experiments with different washes and highlights. My current method is the one used in the models in the front row, 2nd and 3rd from the left. The sergeant is an earlier "cleaner" style.

Fun with Lasers

Now that I've got a TechShop membership, I'm no longer constrained by my lack of a garage and limited equipment.

Here's my first hour's work on the Epilog 45W laser cutter / engraver:

A lot of wargame add-ons are simple designs -- excellent for practice.

  • Vehicle status tokens in paper (test)
  • Vehicle status tokens in acrylic
  • Smoke markers in acrylic
  • Chaos painting and detail stencils in cardstock.
  • Checkerboard stencil in cardstock.

Cityfight results

I tried my new SM 1500 point list. Got worked over by Niki's Dark Angel Deathwing.

My mistakes:

- I combat squadded the Sternguard, and should have kept them together.

- I forgot to deploy my Predator with A/C, so I was playing 60 points short.

- Not giving the Tac Squad Sergeants powerfists was a biiig mistake.

Observations:

- Tigurius is more fragile than expected for a 230-point special character.

- Niki made almost every damn cover and invuln save (!) so his termies were especially difficult to handle.

Monday night's game

No games Sunday due to some Pokemon rollout.

I had a fun game (my Marines vs. Imperial Guard) and learned a lot. It was an objective game with deployment to opposite table quarters.

My opponent's list:

- CCS w/4 GL in Chimera
- 3x Melta Vet squads in Chimeras
- 2x Melta Vet squads in Vendettas
- 2x Leman Russ Punisher
- 2x Armored Sentinels with AC

We weren't tailoring, so I used the same list I had used against the Orks -- 1500 points.

- 3 Tac squads in rhinos with mixes of special weapons
- LR Redeemer with Cassius, 2x LC Termies, 3x TH/SS Termies
- Vindicator

Painting Log

- Highlights and base on 3x Traitor Guardsmen
- Traitor Guard Company Commander
- 4x Space Marines (tested using Gryphone Sepia wash)
