ghost's blogWIP: Lamenters RazorbackIn progress: the Razorback Cor Semper Fidele "Always-Faithful Heart", for the Lamenters Chapter Space Marines. Standard basecoat: Army Painter Daemonic Yellow over a thin coat of white primer. In this state they're pretty much a Schoolbus of Death.
I've done some detail work. Masking those larger checkerboards is tedious, but produces a clean look with a little clean-up on the edges. The door is one of my custom Lamenters Chapter designs, engraved and cut on an Epilog laser machine at TechShop.
Lamenters Space Marines: Assault Marine
Here's the test model for some Assault Marines (guys with jetpacks). I used more highlighting and tried to be careful about the areas of sepia wash over yellow.
Note: photos are about 250% enlargements (the figure is 30mm tall).
Laser engraved Thanksgiving Wine GlassesI made about a dozen wine glasses as gifts for a Thanksgiving party. The images are from a quick Google search of "cornucopia," cleaned up in Photoshop and converted to a transparent GIF.
The Proper Attitude Toward Strange 40K Rule InterpretationsRecent corrections and research at the local game shop:
Five by FiveHere's the version of Stelek's 5x5 game we've been playing. 5x5 means: 5 objectives and 5 kill points. How it works:
Imperial Guard: Facesmash with BubblewrapI'd need a Banewolf + scratchbuilt vehicles to run this. Retains a PCS + 20 guys with ACs to bubblewrap vehicles. HQ TROOPS ELITES FAST ATTACK
Imperial Guard List: Full Mech FacesmashI'd need to add an extra Chimera and Banewolf to my toybox, and scratchbuild the Manticores and Hydras. HQ Company Command Squad: TROOPS ELITES FAST ATTACK HEAVY SUPPORT
Lamenters : Who's cryin' now? Here's a chunk of the Lamenters, in the middle of a Purity Seal treatment.
The circles at the bottom are laser-cut, hand-painted objective markers. I also made other copies in smoke-colored acrylic, as well as ones for Imperial Guard, Ultramarines, and Chaos. I've also finished weathering and customizing two rhinos.
Here's the Rhinos with a couple of occupants, along with their new-style shoulder emblems.
Applied Philosophy explained"We're often told that there are no shortcuts to success -- that it's all a matter of hard work and doing what we're told. The hacking mindset takes there opposite approach: There are always shortcuts and loopholes. For this reason, hacking is sometimes perceived as cheating, or unfair, and it can be."
That's an excellent book titleTake a look. Although in today's marketplace "Existence for Dummies" would sell better.
