Destroying RAW trollsOne of the better days for the Warhammer 40,000 hobby. First, GW releases the Blood Angels and Tyranids FAQs, along with a direct answer on the relevance of the PDF Inquisition codices. 100% agreement? No ... but I'm happy that GW could answer most questions with a straight yes or no. Eldar Falcon WIPA nearly-completed Eldar Falcon Grav Tank. Continuing the stippling techniques, with a lot of highlighting, washes, and as much freehand as I can get away with.
View on the flying stand.
Detail of the door. I used a laser-cut stencil which wouldn't work on the hull of the vehicle due to curves and grooves.
Eldar Vyper WIPA work in progress. An Eldar Vyper, with the goal of making it as cool as possible.
Completed Furioso LibrarianHe's done. Works like a charm ... placed on a decorated 60mm base. No problems with LOS or model size on the table, and he looks cooler (IMHO) than a Dreadnought model.
Furioso Librarian ConversionI'm converting an Eden Miniatures Grey Daimyo into a Lamenters Furioso Librarian. Here's a quick shot of the unpainted conversion next to an AOBR Dreadnought.
40K Skirmish Notes part 5Quick notes: * Some success with using high-AP weapons as modifiers to any die rolled. Example: +3 for a meltagun, applied to either a high die (to push the number beyond the save limit, thus ensuring a casualty) or to a low die (trying to overload the unit's defense dice.) Some things can't directly translate from 40K to Force on Force. A low-quality force will still cause some wounds in 40K just by weight of dice (think of a zillion BS2 orks or a BS3 autocannon), but low-quality troops in FoF lose most quality contests with elite and get killed or pinned before they can strike.
40K: Crusade ResultsThe Crusade event went well, but only a few people showed up. I should have checked the schedule re: Easter before doing the work. I did get to try the new Blood Angels codex with a silly list and misplayed the few vehicles I did have. More practice required. The WW2 event on Saturday devolved into a two-player game -- so I'm going to hold off on scheduling and promoting further events. Maybe it's time to charge an entry fee.
Victory Plaque
I made the plaque at TechShop, using freeware scalable graphics, Corel, and a couple of pieces of acrylic scrap.
Squad-based 40K part 4: PlaytestDecisions: * Power armor (4d armor or better) is sealed, and should get its armor dice vs. flamethrowers. Power armored units can ignore or travel through flames if they make a quality check. * Grav tanks which can fire more than one weapon and move are OP for a skirmish game. Two Eldar Wave Serpents (with troops inside) need to be toned down somewhat. * Monstrous creature rules need to be pondered -- should they use the same rules as vehicles?
